International & cross-border matters
Cross-border business needs a clear legal picture.
Different countries can mean different legal questions. Start by understanding the transaction, the parties and the rules the documents point to.
Discuss your matterThe work starts with your situation.
A business relationship does not become simple because everyone signs the same document. The parties may operate in different countries, the agreement may choose another governing law, and the goods, services or investment may move across borders. Those connections need to be understood together.
Legal Way Group’s international practice covers cross-border transactions, international trade, foreign investment and international contracts. Our office is in Beirut, Lebanon. We help frame the legal questions around a proposed arrangement and discuss the work appropriate to the jurisdictions involved. A regional inquiry does not assume that every part of the matter is governed by Lebanese law.
When we can help
Entering a cross-border agreement
You are engaging a supplier, customer or business partner abroad. We discuss the transaction, the contractual allocation of responsibilities and the points requiring closer jurisdictional review.
Investing or expanding
An investment or new business activity involves more than one country. The ownership structure, transaction documents and practical objectives help define the legal work needed.
Resolving competing assumptions
The parties disagree about which terms or procedures apply. We examine the relevant documents and connections before discussing a response or the next stage of advice.
What happens next
- 1
Map the countries and the transaction
Explain where the parties operate, where the activity takes place and what is being agreed. Include any governing-law or dispute-resolution language already proposed.
- 2
Identify the questions that need answering
We distinguish the commercial objective from the legal issues that require review. Where a matter raises separate jurisdictions or specialist requirements, those are identified as part of scoping.
- 3
Agree the work before proceeding
The team discusses the advice or document support it can undertake, the materials needed and fees. The scope should reflect the actual matter rather than a broad assumption of worldwide coverage.
A few practical questions
Can I contact the firm from elsewhere in the MENA region?
Yes. Use the inquiry form to explain the matter and countries involved. Our office is in Beirut; the team will assess the inquiry and clarify the legal work it can undertake.
Is the country where I live necessarily the governing law?
That should not be assumed. Provide the contract and the relevant locations so the team can examine the governing-law wording and the context of the matter.
Do I need a complete transaction structure before getting in touch?
No. A short outline of the proposal and the parties involved can support an initial discussion. The team can explain what information is needed to assess the next stage.
